Birdsfoot Trefoil: Unmowed

Here’s what can happen when you stop mowing for a few days.

An explosion of gold: birdsfoot trefoil, a common roadside weed. Pops up in lawns every now and then, but usually gets promptly beheaded by the mower, unless it takes refuge in a corner where the blades can’t reach. But in this parking lot in Duanesburg, NY, the mower went AWOL for a week or so (don’t know why) and look what happened. A paradise for pollinators, and a feast for the eye.
